WRESTLING: Branca’s pin helps Pirates nip Cowboys

Francesco Branca pinned his opponent in just 15 seconds at 170 pounds on Tuesday to lead Moapa Valley’s wrestling team to a 39-36 win over visiting Chaparral.

Kadyn Griffith (113), Zak Baldwin (120) and Kaleb Bodily (152) also posted first-period pins for the Pirates. Dakota Shyface (220) also won by fall for Moapa Valley.

Miguel Guerra (126), Hector Perez (132), Andrew Freeman-Thompson (138), Gerardo Skewes (182) and Mateo Solorzano (195) recorded pins for the Cowboys.

Virgin Valley 41, Desert Pines 34 — At Desert Pines, Juan Dominguez (120), Hunter Woods (132) and Hector Garcia (285) each recorded a first-period pin to help the Bulldogs top the Jaguars.

Broc Smith (152) and Luis DeSantiago (160) also won by pin for the Bulldogs.

Eglin Praslin-Orozco (113), Jonathan Velasco (145) and Allan Isaguirre (182) won by pin for Desert Pines.

Boulder City 70, Sunrise Mountain 6 — At Sunrise Mountain, Thomas Prach won by pin in just 26 seconds at 160, and the Eagles won six matches by forfeit en route to the victory.

Patrick Garvin (138), Jacob Jurgschot (195) and Jack Rozycki (285) also won by pin for Boulder City.

Darrell Lampkin won by fall at 126 for the Miners.

Pahrump Valley 71, Cheyenne 6 — At Pahrump, Jace Clayton pinned his opponent in just nine seconds at 285 to help the Trojans rout the Desert Shields.

Joseph Zarabozo (106) and Jaxon Clayton (195) also pinned their opponent in less than a minute for Pahrump. Sam Brophy (138), Scott Maughan (170) and Jeremy Coates (220) added first-period pins for the Trojans, who won four matches by forfeit.

Alex Arnone (152) recorded a pin to earn Cheyenne’s points.

Mojave 36, Faith Lutheran 29 — At Mojave, the Rattlers won four matches by pin en route to the win over the Crusaders.

Christian Collins (120), Anthony Tario (152), Daijon Payno (195) and Carlos Rangel (285) won by fall for Mojave.

Joey LaPlaca (113) had Faith Lutheran’s lone pin.
