WRESTLING: Falcons dominate lower weights, top Coronado

Foothill dominated the lower weights Thursday, winning the first six matches by pin on the way to a 39-34 home victory over Coronado.

Elyas Lizares pinned his opponent in 20 seconds at 120 pounds, and Wyatt English won in 47 seconds at 138.

Estrella Maestas (106), Justyn Ferrer (113), Kohl Velado (126) and Jacob Chavez (132) also won by fall for the Falcons.

Chris Gomez (170), Jordan Marzka (182), Michael Gale (195) and Kaysee Hawes (285) had pins for the Cougars.

Bishop Gorman 39, Durango 36 — At Durango, the Gaels won four matches by pin and edged the Trailblazers.

Joey Mazzara had the quickest pin, winning his 170-pound match in 39 seconds.

Brandon Young (106), Garrett Wallace (160), and Kenneth Collins (220) also won by fall for Gorman.

Victor Ramirez (138), Donzae Jones (145), Miguelito Serna (152) and Sean Waasdorp (285) posted pins for the Trailblazers.

Mojave 60, Cheyenne 18 — At Cheyenne, Micah Harris-Bright pinned his 138-pound opponent in just 24 seconds to help the Rattlers beat the Desert Shields.

Donte Petithomme (113), Michael Childs (120), Christian Collins (132), Mario Shelton-Poindexter (160), Tariq Banks (170), Dai'jon Payno (195) and Don Phillips (220) also posted first-period pins for Mojave.

Ryan Buchanan (106) and Cajuin Jackson (182) had pins for Cheyenne.

Moapa Valley 48, Sunrise Mountain 30 — At Sunrise Mountain, the Pirates benefitted from eight forfeits to defeat the Miners.

Erick Moreno pinned his opponent in 1:24 at 182 pounds, and Alex Herrera (170) also won by fall for Sunrise Mountain.

Clark 52, Western 18 — At Western, Ivan DeAnda pinned his opponent in 30 seconds at 120 pounds to lead the Chargers by the Warriors.

Mervyn Penniston-John (285) also won by fall for Clark, which benefited from three forfeits.

Diego Ortega (113), Luis Lopez (145) and Adan Gutierrez (220) pinned their opponents for Western.
