WRESTLING: Noah Moreno’s pin gives Coronado win over Basic

Coronado’s Noah Moreno pinned his opponent in 24 seconds at 220 pounds on Tuesday to clinch a 42-40 win over Basic at Foothill.

Tim Conaway (120), Alec Cartier-Pace (145), Giacomo Morris (152) and Jordan Marzka (182) also won by fall for the Cougars.

Basic’s Antwonn Dias (113) and Weston Moon (195) both earned pins in less than a minute. Ivan Espinoza (170) and Julio Duron (285) also won by fall for the Wolves.

Foothill 48, Coronado 33 — At Foothill, the Falcons recorded six first-period pins en route to the win over the Cougars.

Wyatt English won by pin in 17 seconds at 138 to lead Foothill. Cole Kazel (113), Micah Schneider (132), Isaac Oliva (170), Eric Montoya (195) and Julian Bradley (285) also posted pins for the Falcons.

Conaway (120), Cartier-Pace (145), Jason D’Richards (160) and Moreno (220) won by fall for Coronado.

Foothill 45, Basic 33 — At Foothill, Tristan Cross won by pin in 52 seconds at 220 to lead the Falcons over the Wolves.

Kazel (113) and Angelito Maestas (145) also won by fall for Foothill, which won four matches by forfeit.

Quilon Lopez (126), Moon (195) and Duron (285) had pins for Basic.

Cimarron-Memorial 46, Palo Verde 33 — At Cimarron, Cristian Rodriguez won by fall at 170 pounds in 1:07 to help the Spartans defeat the Panthers.

Jose Reyes-Geronimo (106), Lance Crespo (113), Nathaniel Rodriguez (120), Stanton Peay (160) and Tyrese Miller (182) also had pins for Cimarron.

Palo Verde’s Isaiah Lawyer won his match at 152 pounds by fall in 1:12. Dominick Uzzardo (138), Grey Garcia (145) and David Rivera (220) won by pin for the Panthers, as well.

Cimarron-Memorial 72, Legacy 9 — At Cimarron, Cristian Rodriguez won his match at 170 pounds by fall in 37 seconds, and the Spartans dominated the Longhorns.

Lance Crespo won by fall in 58 seconds at 113 pounds, and Nathaniel Rodriguez (120), Daniel Rodriguez (132), Delphin Kilembi (152) and Tyrese Miller (182) also had pins for Cimarron.

Michael Rodriguez and Romelow Turner earned decision victories for Legacy at 106 and 138 pounds, respectively.

Palo Verde 54, Legacy 24 — At Cimarron, Ryan Gonzales (113), Chandler Hall (132), Dominick Uzzardo (138) and Carter Jewell (152) all won by fall to lift the Panthers past the Longhorns.

Legacy’s Andrew Sandoval won his match at 120 pounds by fall.

Desert Pines 42, Cheyenne 39 — At Mojave, Xavier Gonzalez won his match by fall at 120 pounds in 1:41 to help the Jaguars edge the Desert Shields.

Abegnego Gomez (113), Adalberto Santiago (182) and Jesus Sanchez (285) recorded pins for Desert Pines.

Cheyenne’s Angel Cunanan won his match at 106 pounds by fall in 19 seconds. Kevin Wilson needed 31 seconds to pin his opponent at 132 for the Desert Shields, and teammates Wesley Federson (138), Jacob Ludwig (145), Tyler Buchanan (170) and Shon Lewis (220) also had pins.

Mojave 51, Cheyenne 30 — At Mojave, Akil West won his 145-pound match by fall in 30 seconds to lead the Rattlers past the Desert Shields.

Dominic Mota (113), Michael Childs (126), Joseph Lojero (132) and Marcos Salas (138) also had pin-fall victories for Mojave.

Cheyenne’s Ryan Buchanan needed 13 seconds to win his match at 120 pounds by fall. Cunanan (106) and Chance Franz (285) won by fall for the Desert Shields.

Mojave 45, Desert Pines 30 — At Mojave, Sergio Salazar won his match at 220 pounds by fall, and the Rattlers downed the Jaguars.

Kevin D’Luna (106), Mota (113), Lojero (132), Salas (138) and Ajani West (145) all recorded pins for Mojave.

Desert Pines’ Gonzalez (120), Abel Hernandez (160) and Santiago (195) won by fall.

Centennial 57, Faith Lutheran 25 – At Centennial, five Bulldogs picked up pinfall victories in a victory over the Crusaders.

Omar Gonzalez (106), Mac Tyra (132), Tucker Edwards (152), Ike Edwards (160) and Brian Clark (182) all won by fall for Centennial.

Noah Vernon (120) and Peter Enos (145) won by fall for the Crusaders.

Shadow Ridge 30, Arbor View 30 – At Centennial, the Mustangs picked up a victory on the eighth-criteria tiebreaker over the Aggies.

Cole Burleson (120), Adrian Quibuyen (126) and Alika Villiatora (132) won by fall for Shadow Ridge.

Arbor View got pinfall victories from Cannon Rivers (182) and Spencer Stimpson (285).

Shadow Ridge 56, Faith Lutheran 16 – At Centennial, the Mustangs won the first six weight classes en route to a commanding win over the Crusaders.

Javier Zuniga won by fall at 106 pounds, as did Burleson (120), Villiatora (132), Marc Williams (160) and Isaiah Eisenberg (182). Weston Presser and Deshawn Moore each won by major decision for Shadow Ridge.

Connor Bourne got the lone pin for the Crusaders at 195 pounds.

Arbor View 45, Centennial 27 – At Centennial, Tristan Gallagher won by major decision (13-3) in the Aggies’ victory over the Bulldogs.

Peyton Prussin (106), Chris Sims (132), Ryder Marchello (145) and Donavan Smith all won by pin for the Aggies.

Centennial’s Nico Antuna (138), Edwards (152), Clark (182) and Arath Rangel (285) won by fall.

Centennial 36, Shadow Ridge 35 – At Centennial, Rangel won by fall at 285 pounds in 32 seconds to give the Bulldogs the win over the Mustangs.

Peyton Kohls won by fall at 126 pounds for Centennial, as did Tucker Edwards (152) and Clark (182).
