WRESTLING: Virrueta’s quick pin helps Rams top Pioneers

Pedro Virrueta recorded a pin in just 32 seconds in the 120-pound weight class Tuesday to lead Rancho’s wrestling team to a 42-27 home win over Canyon Springs.

Ariel Vivas (126), Julian Quezada (160) and Akram Reshad (220) also won by pin for the Rams.

Gabriel Puga-Aguirre (195) and Antonio Alcala (170) won by pin for Canyon Springs.

Liberty 52, Eldorado 21 — At Liberty, Julian Boccadoro (138) won by pin in 38 seconds, and teammate Storm Roper (145) needed only 42 seconds to win by pin as the Patriots topped the Sundevils.

Zack Balden (152) and Dylan Hall (170) also won by fall for Liberty.

Reydin Dennis (285) recorded Eldorado’s lone pin.

Foothill 56, Coronado 15 — At Foothill, Damian Ortega (120) recorded a pin in 21 seconds to help the Falcons top the Cougars.

Kaden Lizares (106), Joshua Gomez (145), Steven Thomas (160), Bobby Merritt (170), Charles Atkerson (195) and Josh Ozuna (220) also won by pin for Foothill.

Daniel Hampton (152) won by pin for Coronado.

Green Valley 74, Silverado 0 — At Green Valley, the Gators shut out the Skyhawks.

Wally Zernich (106), Jared Temple (126), Jon Gardner (195) and Anthony Valenti (285) recorded first-period pins for Green Valley.
