Animal parts found; man charged in Reno

RENO — A 24-year-old Reno man has been arrested on drug and animal cruelty charges after the manager of a Reno motel reported suspicious activity in one of the rooms.

Washoe County sheriff’s deputies said they responded to the motel about 2 p.m. Tuesday and discovered the occupant of the room had left behind remains of several animals along with drugs and drug paraphernalia.

They arrested Jason Brown on Wednesday and charged him with five felony counts of willful torture of an animal and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

Brown was being held in the Washoe County jail where his bail was set at $55,000.
