Dramatic video shows Florida State football player survive horrific crash

TALLAHASSEE — Recently released video footage shows a Florida State University football player’s horrific motorcycle crash in Tallahassee earlier this year.

Florida State tight end Nick O’Leary, grandson of retired legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus, was traveling May 2 on Mission Road in Tallahassee when a Lexus pulled in front of him without the right-of-way. O’Leary, on his motorcycle, collided with the front of the Lexus and flew off his motorcycle, sliding 75–100 feet before coming to a stop.

The motorcycle shattered upon impact with the Lexus and hit the windshield of a Star Metro Bus parked nearby.

O’Leary was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to an obtained by TomahawkNation.com. The driver of the Lexus was cited for causing the crash.

Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher confirmed to Fox Sports Florida that O’Leary was “was banged up for about a month,” but is now healthy and ready for the start of camp during ACC Media Days.

O’Leary, a junior from Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., caught 21 passes for 252 yards and three touchdowns in 2012. One of the top tight ends in the country, he is a candidate for the Mackey Award, which is presented annually to college football’s most outstanding tight end.
