Josh Romney pulls 4 from car wreck

The son of former Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney helped save the day Thursday when he witnessed a car crash on his way home from Thanksgiving dinner.

Josh Romney, 38, said he was driving home with his wife and children Thursday night when he saw a car speed past him and crash into a home in Holladay, Utah, a Salt Lake City suburb.

Romney tweeted a photo of himself standing next to the car, which was inside the kitchen of the home.

“Was first on scene to big accident, see pic of car in the house,” he said. “I lifted 4 people out to safety. All ok. Thankful.”

Lt. Justin Hoyal of the Unified Police Department confirmed to ABC News that Romney was at the scene of the accident. Hoyal said a male driver exited the freeway and “for unknown reasons, didn’t stop and continued off and ended up in that house.”

A husband, wife and two teenage kids were in the car at the time of the accident. An adult male was in the basement of the house that was hit.

Romney posted on Facebook the photo and an explanation of what happened.

“I was the first on scene to the huge accident on 4500 South last night,” he said. “Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured and I was able to lift all four passengers out of the car. The car just missed us at the intersection and hit this house going about 70 mph. You can see from the pic that we are in the homeowner’s kitchen.”

There were no injuries in the accident. The house has been hit by a car once before and still shows signs of the previous accident, according to KSL in Salt Lake City.
