Clark County Democrats elect new leadership

Updated July 25, 2023 - 1:12 pm

Members of the Clark County Democratic Party Central Committee on Saturday elected new leaders who will lead the state’s most populous county through the 2024 election.

Longtime political organizer Shelby Wiltz won her race for chair, alongside other candidates who were part of her “mission slate.”

Beside Wiltz, the new leaders of the county party include Christina Lopez as first vice chair, Dielle Telada as second vice chair, and Angelyn Tabalba as third vice chair.

“I am honored to have been elected Chair of our County Party,” said Wiltz, who was unavailable for an interview, in an email to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “We have a lot of work ahead of us and I’m looking forward to taking on the challenge. Our new Executive Board will be focused on reengaging our membership, building up clubs and caucuses and planning for 2024.”

Wiltz also previously told the Las Vegas Review-Journal she intends to “unite, empower and organize” the county party. She hopes to bring new voices to the table and get local caucuses and clubs involved.

Daniele Monroe-Moreno, chair of the Nevada State Democratic Party, said in a statement to the Review-Journal that the new leaders of the county party “will be strong partners in our work mobilizing voters across Southern Nevada to reelect President Biden, Senator Rosen and Democrats up and down the ticket in 2024.”
