Legislators got tough Sunday with juveniles who graffiti private or public property. On a 40-2 vote, the Assembly approved a Senate-passed bill that allows civil lawsuits to be filed against the parents of children under age 18 if the juveniles have defaced property with graffiti. The property owner can seek triple damages and lawyer fees.

CARSON CITY Leading lawmakers on Sunday scurried between the Capitol and the Legislative Building but didn’t strike a budget deal with GOP Gov. Brian Sandoval, leaving the two sides just a few days to complete a two-year state funding plan before a June 7 deadline.
