CARSON CITY — On a 28-14 vote, the Assembly today overrode Gov. Jim Gibbons’ veto of a bill to allow domestic partnerships in Nevada. With the override Saturday in the Senate, the domestic partners legislation will become law in Nevada on Oct. 1.
CARSON CITY — A bill that could keep as many as 17,700 Nevadans from losing their homes to foreclosure was signed into law Friday by Gov. Jim Gibbons.

CARSON CITY — A $781 million tax hike to fund state government for the next two years became law over Gov. Jim Gibbons’ objection Friday as the Assembly joined the Senate in overriding Gibbons’ veto. Five vetoed bills must still be overridden to complete the budget. The Assembly completed overrides on four of them Friday morning but the Senate had not yet acted on them.

His action was destined to be short-lived. Hours later, the Senate undid three of the vetoes, with more veto overrides in the Senate and Assembly expected today.
