Clark County considers letting pot dispensaries stay open 24/7
September 19, 2017 - 4:00 pm
Marijuana dispensaries in unincorporated Clark County could soon be allowed to stay open as long as they want.
Commissioners on Tuesday directed county staff to draft a proposed ordinance change that would allow those businesses to stay open around the clock.
Under current ordinances, marijuana dispensaries in unincorporated Clark County must close from 3 to 6 a.m. Chairman Steve Sisolak said that after talking with Las Vegas police, he is worried that making marijuana businesses close between specific hours makes them a target for thieves, especially with the industry being almost exclusively cash-only.
“I’m very concerned with the security issue,” Sisolak said.
Commissioners will discuss the topic further at a later meeting.
