NASA to present 4K live-stream from space during NAB in Las Vegas
Greetings Las Vegas, from outer space.
The city will make it into the record books once again this month when it becomes the first city to host a live 4K video stream from beyond Earth’s atmosphere.
A National Aeronautics and Space Administration astronaut will converse with participants at the National Association of Broadcasters Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center while rotating 250 miles above the earth. The broadcast will take place on at 10:30 am on April 26.
While traveling aboard the International Space Station, Peggy Whitson will converse via a live 4K stream with Amazon Web Services Elemental CEO and Co-founder Sam Blackman, who will be at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
The public will be able to view the live stream in 4k or in high definition through the Amazon Web Services website. Viewers will need 4k devices to view the broadcast in 4k resolution.
The ability to live stream video at four times the resolution of current HD technology will enhance NASA’s its ability to observe, uncover and adapt new knowledge of orbital and deep space, the NAB Show said in a statement today.
The live stream conversation will be held during a panel discussion that will explore how advanced imaging and cloud technologies are enhancing scientific research and film making. The panel is co-produced by NAB show, NASA and AWS.
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos owns Blue Origin, an aerospace and space flight services company.
The NAB Show, which brings 103,000 people from 166 countries to Las Vegas, will be held from April 22 to 27.
