Showers make way for clear skies, sunshine

Put away your rain gear and get ready for some sunshine, Las Vegas. Saturday's rainy skies cleared up Sunday, leaving the valley with triple-digit temperatures and sunshine, the National Weather Service said.

Sunday's highs reached 101 degrees, with constant breezes of 10 to 15 mph, meteorologist Justin Pullin said. Temperatures were just two degrees below the 103 valley average for Aug. 2, and 14 degrees under the day's record high of 115 degrees, set in 1979.

Temperatures will get hotter as the week goes on, Pullin said, with a highs of 105 to 106 degrees for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. No rain is expected.
