Two accidents hinder Thursday morning traffic

Two freeway crashes involving Rainbow Boulevard left commuters in sluggish traffic Thursday morning.

The first crash at U.S. Highway 95 southbound and Rainbow about 7 a.m. involved a car and pickup truck. One person was taken to University Medical Center, Nevada Highway Patrol Loy Hixson said. A tow truck was on the scene at 8:15 a.m., and Hixson expected the blocked right lane to clear up by 9 a.m.

The other crash occurred about 7:30 a.m. at the Las Vegas Beltway and Rainbow in southwestern Las Vegas, leaving eastbound center traffic lanes blocked. It involved three cars, Hixson said, and two people were transported to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
