Zappos responds to Kanye jab with potty humor

Las Vegas-based Zappos.com found itself in the crosshairs of Kanye West’s latest ridiculous rant, but the online retailer, keeping true to its core values, delivered WOW with a response to the future Mr. Kardashian.

Self-styled fashion maven West lit the fire Monday on author Bret Easton Ellis’ podcast when he took a shot at Zappos’ CEO Tony Hsieh:

“I got into this giant argument with the head of Zappos that he’s trying to tell me what I need to focus on. Meanwhile, he sells all this sh-t product to everybody, his whole thing is based off of selling sh-t product,” West told Ellis.

The online retailer, which does about $1 billion in business a year, didn’t start a Twitter war, or go on the View to talk about how mean Kanye was. But a new product showed up on Zappos.com on Wednesday.

The $100,000 “Zappos.com Gear Sh-t Product,” which appears to be a toilet and plunger, is described as follows:

“Interested in buying sh-t product? You’ve come to the right place! Here at Zappos.com, we happily sell sh-t products to everybody! This is the throne, everyone has been watching. Whether you’re #1 or #2, your clique will show no mercy, even in Paris.”

The online description also suggests the item as “The perfect gift for the man that has everything.”

Hsieh has not publicly commented on West’s comments. Not that he needs to.
