51s open series in Reno with 6-3 victory

The 51s batted around in the third inning, scoring three times, and Jacob deGrom had a strong outing as Las Vegas defeated the Reno Aces 6-3 on Tuesday night to open a four-game series in Reno.
Chris Young’s leadoff double was followed by Eric Campbell’s single. Bobby Abreu followed with a single, and Wilmer Flores’ sacrifice fly scored Campbell. Allan Dykstra then doubled home Abreu to make the score 3-0.
Flores, who was 2-for-4 with three RBIs, hit a leadoff home run in the fifth to make the score 4-0. Juan Centeno’s double in the seventh scored Dykstra, who led off the inning with a walk, to increase Las Vegas’ lead to 5-0.
Flores doubled in the eighth to score Campbell, who had singled with one out, and extend the lead to 6-0.
DeGrom (1-0) allowed three hits, struck out four and walked one in seven innings.
The Aces (6-7) broke up the shutout in the ninth, touching relievers Ryan Reid and Josh Edgin for three runs on four singles, a walk and an error. They had the tying run at the plate before Edgin struck out Blake Lalli for his first save as the 51s improved to 10-3, tops in the Pacific Coast League.
Reno starter Charles Brewer dropped to 1-2.
The teams meet again at 6:30 p.m. today.
