Aces make WNBA history by selling out season ticket memberships

The two-time defending WNBA champions can add another accomplishment to their resume.

The Aces became the first team in WNBA history to sell out their season ticket memberships, the club announced Thursday. The season ticket allotment is around 8,600.

“This is such a special milestone for our franchise, as it really represents the culmination of several years of hard work by our players, our coaches and our front office as we’ve tried to build a championship culture on and off the court and foster impactful relationships in the community,” Aces President Nikki Fargas said in a statement. “Las Vegas has truly shown up and shown out for this franchise, creating a bond between the city and our team that is unrivaled in the WNBA.”

The Aces begin their 40-game regular season May 14 at home against Phoenix. They’re attempting to become the first WNBA team to win three straight titles since the Houston Comets won four straight from 1997 to 2000 in the first four years of the league’s existence.

Single-game tickets for the Aces’ game at T-Mobile Arena on Sept. 3 will go on sale at the end of March. A limited number of single-game tickets for the team’s other 19 home games at Michelob Ultra Arena — which holds around 10,000 — will go on sale by late April. Tickets will be available at AXS.com.

Thursday’s news cements the Aces as one of the WNBA’s biggest draws. They averaged a league-high 9,551 fans per game last year. It was the first time the franchise led the WNBA in attendance. The Aces also drew an announced crowd of 17,406 in their regular-season finale against Phoenix at T-Mobile Arena on Sept. 10, the largest in the league last year.

Those were impressive numbers in a successful season for the WNBA overall. Attendance was up 16 percent for the league year over year, and its average crowd of 6,615 fans was its highest since 2018.

It’s no surprise that the Aces were the ones leading the charge.

The franchise is on an incredible run behind coach Becky Hammon and a talented core of players that includes forward A’ja Wilson and guards Chelsea Gray, Kelsey Plum and Jackie Young.

The Aces are the -110 favorites to win their third straight WNBA championship at Station Casinos, meaning bettors must wager $110 to win $100. The New York Liberty, who lost to the Aces 3-1 in last year’s Finals, are the second choice at +240 (wager $100 to win $240).
