LeBron James elected VP of players’ union

Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James was voted first vice president of the National Basketball Players Association on Friday, according to multiple reports.

He replaces free-agent Roger Mason Jr., who was serving as vice president. Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul is the president of the players’ union.

Paul was named to the post in 2013 as a replacement for Derek Fisher, who is now the New York Knicks head coach.

James has never held a leadership role in the players association but has been vocal during past labor negotiations and considered running for president in 2013 before Paul was elected.

Paul and James will work with Michele Roberts, the first-year executive director of the players’ union.
