24 teams to play in Las Vegas’ NBA Summer League

The NBA announced Wednesday that 24 teams will participate in the Summer League, which will run from July 8 to 18.

The NBA Summer League will be played at the Thomas &Mack Center and Cox Pavilion. The event will include rookies and second-year players.

Among the teams entered are the defending Summer League champions San Antonio Spurs, the Golden State Warriors, the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Memphis Grizzlies — who have not played in the league since 2013 — and an NBA Developmental Select team. Also, the Philadelphia 76ers, who won Tuesday’s NBA Draft Lottery, will enter a team that probably will feature the No. 1 overall pick.

The format will be the same as the past four years, with teams playing three preliminary games followed by a tournament among all teams, leading up to a championship game July 18. Each team will play at least five games.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday at NBATickets.com.

The list of participating teams: Atlanta, Boston, Brooklyn, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Denver, Golden State, Houston, L.A. Lakers, Memphis, Miami, Milwaukee, Minnesota, NBA D-League Select, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, San Antonio, Toronto, Utah and Washington.
