Schedule announced: Pelicans-Knicks tip off NBA Summer League in Las Vegas

The newly renamed New Orleans Pelicans will tip off the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas against the New York Knicks at 1 p.m. July 12 in Cox Pavilion.

Also on the opening day, the Los Angeles Lakers will play the Cleveland Cavaliers, which has the top selection in this year’s NBA Draft.

The 22 teams will compete in a 61-game schedule culminating with the championship game on July 22 at the Thomas & Mack Center.

The NBA Summer League has played in Las Vegas since 2004, but this is the first year its featured a tournament to crown a champion.

Other teams participating are the Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Bobcats, Chicago Bulls, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors, Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Phoenix Suns, Portland Trail Blazers, Sacramento Kings, San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, Washington Wizards and a select team from the NBA D-League.

Each team is guaranteed to play at least five games.
