Casino MonteLago opens new sports book as football arrives

Just in time for the college football and National Football League seasons, Casino MonteLago at Lake Las Vegas in Henderson has opened a new sports book.
The Casino MonteLago sports book opened Thursday on the casino's upper level. The South Point will operate the 24-hour sports book.
In the sports book business in Las Vegas, South Point has had a rough few months, losing two of its longtime clients.
The company was recently replaced by Station Casinos LLC as operator of the sports book at the El Cortez in downtown Las Vegas. In March, Cantor Gaming will take over for South Point at the Plaza in downtown Las Vegas.
"The Casino MonteLago Sports Book will be fully updated with some of the latest technology available," Casino MonteLago CEO Jon Berkley said. "The state-of-the art facility features 35 LCDs (liquid-crystal displays) and odds boards. Live sports (ticket) writers will be available on weekends along with a kiosk for round-the-clock 24 hour wagering."
The 24-hour sports book joins a betting pool, which includes the Palms, the Cannery hotel-casinos, Rampart and others operated by South Point.
The NFL season begins Sept. 8 with Green Bay hosting New Orleans. South Point's oddsmakers have the Packers as a 7-1 favorite to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
