Horse Racing, Hollywood Park, June 7
June 7, 2012 - 1:02 am
Today at Hollywood Park
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 - 5 furlongs, Purse $30,000, Maiden claiming $50,000, Fillies, 2-year-olds
4 Ziraili - FTS from the white hot Doug O'Neill barn; he may be busy at Belmont Park but he keeps winning back in Inglewood.
6 Jilly Baylee - Tepid chalk fits the MO for Steve Knapp victories; he likes to win races on the drop down.
Long Shot - 2 Katy's Star
Race 2 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $27,000, Maiden claiming $40,000, 3-year-olds and up
1 A Day Away - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; saves all the ground and grinds it out late.
3 Noble Kent - Speedy sort is the right kind of horse for a green bugboy to ride; break sharp and go to the front.
Long Shot - 4 Givimaway
Race 3 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $24,000, Claiming $12,500, 3-year-olds and up
6 Low Gear Power - Showed immediate improvement off the claim by Jeff Mullins; return to synthetic surface help a lot too.
5 Man Chester Man - Grinding third in last when never really threatened; this looks like a much slower group tonight.
Long Shot - 3 Capture the Call
Race 4 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming 430,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
5 Briteyednbushytail - Key vote for me is Garrett Gomez taking the call; huge class drop from MSW to maiden claiming.
6 Wildakceleration - Tepid chalk in a sorry looking field; 6-of-8 seconds, but doesn't appear to have the will to win.
Long Shot - 2 Pardon My Excess
Race 5 - 6 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $54,000, Optional claiming $25,000, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up
4 My Summer Slew - No shame losing to speedball Streakin Mohican in last; big class drop can only help him.
8 Red Defense - John Sadler says its time to find an easier class to compete in; if not claimed, opens up many conditions for him.
Long Shot - 7 Blue Jay Attack
Race 6 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $21,000, Claiming $16,000, 3-year-olds and up
6 Megaride - This race is for NW2L so no one really likes to win; ran a winning race for this class in last.
4 Visible Marq - I typically don't like recent graduates, the class rise is enormous; Bob Baffert is winning at 41 percent at BHP.
Long Shot - 1 Showmethemoneyjim
Race 7 - 1 1/16th miles, Purse $54,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
6 Last Sting - His one race over synthetics two back was pretty good; Doug O'Neill may have found the mare's hole card.
5 Endless Fancy - Speedy sprinter is stretching out in distance for the first time; part of an uncoupled Bob Baffert entry.
Long Shot - 1 Starlight Magic
Race 8 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $52,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up
3 Sizzlin' Joe - He goes 2-turns and grass for the first time; he has talent and is an Unusual Heat get, those babies can turf.
1 Turn On the Pumps - He has yet to finish in the money in 5 grass starts; still this is a weak group and he'll save all the ground.
Long Shot - 6 Amoracchius
Best Bet - 3 Sizzlin' Joe (race 8)
Betfair Hollywood Park Sunday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 17/5/$26.20; Long Shots, 9/1/$9.80; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
Betfair Hollywood Park Totals - 357/84/$561.80; Long Shots, 180/30/$294.40; Best Bets, 18/4/$16.00
SIMULCAST PLAY OF THE DAY - #4 Uptown Bertie (9/5) in race 8 at Churchill Downs. For scoring purposes, we'll make a hypothetical $2 win, place and show bet, $6 total. On Sunday, Little Stitch ran out at Monmouth Park. Stats - 86/56/$484.10; Follow him on Twitter: @richeng4propick
