2 Kid Rollins - Tom Proctor is fully involved opening day of the Los Al thoroughbred meet; his main rider will be bugboy Drayden Van Dyke.
Long Shot - 5 Fiesta Express
Race 2 - 5 furlongs, Purse $42,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies, 2-year-olds
8 Sweet Mz. Poppet - Has cashed two paychecks which makes her a standout in here; Edwin Maldonado likes to put them on the engine.
9 Desert Thief - Caesar Dominguez adding blinkers on for this; has shown the ability to rate, we’ll see how the racetrack is playing.
Long Shot - 1 Take Back Spring
Race 3 - 6 furlongs, Purse $42,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
1 Citizenship - Don’t expect to see the Bob Baffert A-team here; he’s got so many horses, his overflow will help the fields a lot.
3 Here’s Bella - Brian Koriner has had a quiet year so far; this FTS appears to have some hop and he gets leading rider Joe Talamo up.
Long Shot - 6 Twenty Six Acts
Race 4 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $27,000, Starter allowance $25,000, 3-year-olds and up
11 Too Fast to Pass - Have to respect Kent Desormeaux accepting work at Los Al; how often has the HOF been to the Orange County track?
8 Derringer - Bobby Wayne Grayson is one trainer to fear with any newcomer; this one ran well off the claim with Elvis Trujillo.
Long Shot - 3 Relentless
Race 5 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up
5 Chattering Class - Showing steady improvement since switching to the Santa Anita main track; faces a pretty slow group tonight.
1 Voluntary - Has some speed from the rail; I cannot honestly say I’ll know how the track is playing, your edge over me at this point.
Long Shot - 6 Storm the Heavens
Race 6 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $14,000, Claiming $8,000, 3-year-olds and up
9 Shining Son - Richard Baltas had a terrific meet at Santa Anita; we’ll find out soon enough if the momentum will come to Orange County.
1 Justamitch - Claimed by Steve Miyadi for a paltry $4K; chance to win out in a big way with a much richer purse for cheap stock.
Long Shot - 8 Backstreet Boss
Race 7 - 1 mile, $100,000 Bertrando, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up
3 Rousing Sermon - Tiny edge in a very difficult stakes; no standouts, just horses all about the same level of ability.
9 Storm Fighter - Tepid chalk in a wide open affair; his race and win two back in the Tiznow is the race he’ll need to repeat tonight.
Long Shot - 7 Tribal Jewel
Race 8 - 1 mile, Purse $17,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
10 Itsherprerogative - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; need not be much to win the finale.
2 Sheza Eyeopener - Speed and the rail, adding blinkers on for Rafael Becerra; we’ll see a track bias develop in quick fashion.
