Horse Racing: Today at Santa Anita, January 4

Post Time 12:30 p.m.

Race 1 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $32,000, Claiming $25,000, 4-year-olds and up

5 When We Met - Has been very productive since claimed by Robertino Diodoro four races ago; in top form, has back class, to handle these.

6 Hadfunlastnight - Sliding down the claiming ladder to the lowest class of his career; will hope for a quick pace to chase late.

Long Shot - 8 Quality Plan

Race 2 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, 4-year-olds and up

1 Logan’s Moon - Improved a lot in his second career start; like that Rafael Bejarano remains loyal to the cause.

8 War Destiny - Typical green debut, slow early, fast late; can move forward especially with a better start.

Long Shot - 6 Wade

Race 3 - 1 mile, Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $80,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

3 Miss Mandate - Did not run a step when shipped to Delta Downs; she broke her MSW at Santa Anita, have to believe she likes it here.

6 All Star Bub - Tight fit in a difficult heat; when Rafael Bejarano and Jerry Hollendorfer get together, they are double tough to beat.

Long Shot - 4 Olivia’s Greatdane

Race 4 - 1 1/8th miles (turf, rail at 8 feet), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds

7 Metaboss - Lost to a very talented colt Bolo who won his next out facing winners; big rider switch to Rafael Bejarano.

3 Stuffed Animal - Speed figure improved a lot when tried on turf last time; he has strong pedigree to adore the greensward.

Long Shot - 6 Temple Keys

Race 5 - 6 furlongs, Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $20,000, Cal-breds, 4-year-olds and up

6 Kill Shot - Suspect will pop the gate an improve his position from there; only caveat to me is the amount of gaps in his resume.

7 Memphis - Turned into a real horse when claimed by George Papaprodromou four races agao; can win on the lead or stalk the pace.

Long Shot - 4 He’s On His Toes

Race 6 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $32,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

6 Doctor Glynis - Ran one good race, one bad race, down the hillside turf course; big rider switch to Rafael Bejarano for the money shot.

4 Faith Hope Love - Takes a big class drop to face much easier; suspect can either lead or sit close up throughout.

Long Shot - 8 Mahalo Princess

Race 7 - 1 mile, Purse $16,000, Claiming $12,500, 4-year-olds and up

4 Rainbow North - Sliding down the claiming ladder to this new career low; Peter Miller adding blinkers on for even more early speed.

9 Stolen Property - Was never in the hunt last time; Jeff Mullins claimed him for $12,500, puts him back for that price, a good sign.

Long Shot - 1 Ebony Gold

Race 8 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 8 feet), $200,000 Monrovia, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

4 Heat Trap - Has run in the money all five times down the hillside turf course; very positive sign for a tricky turf track.

12 Velvet Mesquite - Parking lot post is an advantage down the hillside turf course; Mike Smith will rate and make one brush.

Long Shot - 10 Sky Treasure

Race 9 - 1 mile, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

6 Miz Graycee - Taking the biggest class drop in racing from MSW to maiden claiming; last speed figure is fast enough to beat these.

3 Won’t Be Shaken - Another taking the big class drop from MSW to maiden claiming; leap of faith from the live Steve Miyadi barn.

Long Shot - 9 Lady Danger

Best Bet - 7 Metaboss (race 4)

Santa Anita Saturday - Picks/Winners/Mutuels, 18/1/$8.40; Long Shots, 9/1/$10.60; Best Bet, 1/0/$0
