Horse Racing: Today at Santa Anita, March 13

Post Time 1 p.m.

Race 1 - 6 furlongs, Purse $35,000, Maiden claiming $75,000, 3-year-olds

2 My Ole Bud - Tiny edge due to one race of experience; he didn’t run poorly, just evenly, in his career debut.

5 Perfectly Majestic - FTS in a race full of slowpokes; your edge over me is being able to see the tote board action.

Long Shot - 1 Domingo Cat

Race 2 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $58,000, Optional claiming $80,000, 3-year-olds

6 Diamond Majesty - Like the parking lot post very much down the hillside turf course; will be firing fast late.

1 Stormy Liberal - I like cutbacks like this, especially those with early speed in the route part; Kent Desormeaux riding in top form.

Long Shot - 4 Pat the Bear

Race 3 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $25,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up

8 Underhill Drive - Slight edge due to experience facing winners already; she didn’t win her second race, but has held her own.

6 Lyla Della - Sharp maiden claiming winner now facing a stiff class rise facing winners for the first time; has good tactical speed.

Long Shot - 5 Comin’offthebench

Race 4 - 6 furlongs, Purse $21,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

8 Patriotic Brother - If anyone can sit a perfect trip its leading jockey Rafael Bejarano; she does not need the lead to succeed.

1 Tempe - Chance to be lone early speed from the rail; severe class dropper from the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer.

Long Shot - 2 Oscillator

Race 5 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $32,000, Claiming $25,000, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

3 Tribal Chatter - Rafael Bejarano will need to do his best to get her to relax; if she fights the rider you’ll know early on.

6 Love Blind - The race shape could look good for this mare in the stretch; Kent Desormeaux will sit chilly and come flying fast late.

Long Shot - 1 Miss Ellany

Race 6 - 1 mile, Purse $58,000, Allowance, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up

7 Short Heat Wave - Joe Steiner gets very few live mounts; this one lost a heartbreaker in last in a stretch long duel.

2 Odin - Exits his MSW graduation; facing winners for the first time is a big step up, but this one has showed good gumption in the past.

Long Shot - 3 Blackford

Race 7 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 24 feet), Purse $65,000, Optional claiming $80,000, 4-year-olds and up

5 Sweet Swap - He has proven himself to be a hillside turf course specialist; has lost some frustrating close decisions of late.

8 County Lineman - If you read my comments, you know how much I like parking lot posts down the hill; first time gelding off a layoff.

Long Shot - 7 Global View

Race 8 - 5 1/2 furlongs, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, 3-year-olds and up

1 D’Church - Could be the most popular single on the card tonight; not for me though as one race wonders can sometimes bounce.

10 K Thirty Eight - Has been away nearly a full year; returns with HOF Alex Solis up for Karen Headley, her dad Bruce always used Solis.

Long Shot - 11 Sam Slick

Best Bet - 8 Underhill Drive (race 3)
