Horse Racing: Today at Santa Anita Park, January 10

Post Time 1 p.m.

Race 1 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $30,000, Optional claiming $32,000, 3-year-olds

7 Cloudy River - Broke his maiden two back here in Arcadia; tactical speed to sit a nice trip with the speed to his inside.

3 Guy Code - Like the rider switch to Victor Espinoza for the money shot; they teamed up to break his maiden two races ago.

Long Shot - 2 Wildcat Sailor

Race 2 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $56,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

5 Glory - Was well bet in debut and for good reason; ran well late for second, should improve for the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer.

6 Dad’s Princess - Showed improvement in last after a pitiful race two back; class relief from two grade 1 stakes for this.

Long Shot - 4 Wild At Heart

Race 3 - 7 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Maiden claiming $30,000, Fillies, 3-year-olds

1 Mama’s Trashed - Like the cut back in distance after a good effort in last; will save every inch of ground tonight.

6 Empress Wildcat - Tepid chalk has the angle of less races the better at this bottom rung; David Hofmans remains a top trainer.

Long Shot - 9 Scatajawea

Race 4 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $58,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 4-year-olds and up

10 Fresh Feline - Caveat emptor, John Shirreffs has an uncoupled entry; bonus points for breaking her MSW at Saratoga.

1 Kadesha - Tepid chalk in a wide open affair; dead late closer cutting back in distance, rail post will help save a lot of ground.

Long Shot - 5 Demonica

Race 5 - 6 furlongs, Purse $17,000, Claiming $8,000, 4-year-olds and up

10 Nextdoorneighbor - Has won two straight since claimed by Robertino Diodoro; in good form and has proven form at Santa Anita.

14 Senor Rain - Parking lot post in a field full of slowpokes; has early apeed and like the cut back in distance too.

Long Shot - 4 Bob Consultation

Race 6 - 1 mile, $100,000 Sham, 3-year-olds

7 Calculator - Got sick before the Breeders’ Cup; this is a perfect comeback race, avoiding the tigers in the 3-year-old division.

4 Unblunted - Had a tough trip up at Golden Gate; has ability and plenty of room to improve, good value at 6/1 odds.

Long Shot - 2 Pioneerof the West

Race 7 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, 3-year-olds

3 Battle of Evermore - Ran very well down the hill two races back; went 2-turns in last, now is turning back in distance tonight.

1 Anytime Anyplace - Speed and the rail, simple tactics for Joe Talamo on this speedball; turf rail out 15 feet will aid the speed.

Long Shot - 11 Nakamoto

Race 8 - 1 1/16th miles, $200,000 San Pasqual, 4-year-olds

2 Hoppertunity - His win in the Clark was what Bob Baffert had envisioned all year long; a very highly regarded colt in the barn.

11 Tonito M. - When I can get 10/1 on a Rafael Bejarano-Jerry Hollendorfer horse, that’s value; figures to be overlooked.

Long Shot - 1 Quadrivium

Race 9 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $32,000, Claiming $25,000, 4-year-olds and up

8 Snowday - Has yet to win down the hill in four tries, all while facing much tougher; blinkers on for Jerry Hollendorfer.

6 Fighting On - Second start off the claim by Rafael DeLeon; Corey Nakatani to me remains one of the best turf riders around.

Long Shot - 1 Compari
