Horse Racing: Today at Santa Anita, September 26
September 26, 2014 - 8:41 am
Post Time 1 p.m.
Race 1 - 1 Mile, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Fillies, 2-year-olds
4 Madam Aamoura - Exits the hardest race, by far, of any filly in the field; oddly this is her first start over dirt.
5 Redshirt - Showed improvement in her second career start; she’s bred to route and it was proven in her last start.
Long Shot - 6 Here Comes Chloe
Race 2 - 6 furlongs, Purse $23,000, Claiming $16,000, 3-year-olds and up
4 Senator Bob - I like horses that won last out while running a lower Beyer; tells me the horse may have won with something left.
3 Peacenik - Sliding down the claiming ladder this this lower level; he has won 4-of-9 starts at Santa Anita.
Long Shot - 2 Gal Has to Like It
Race 3 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $56,000, Maiden special weights, Cal-breds, Fillies, 2-year-olds
6 Flat Footed Mama - Bob Baffert babies typically improve with experience; expect this one to move forward too.
9 Tatum’s Gold - Has teased and nibbled in her four career starts; they tried blinkers on in the last two starts to no avail.
Long Shot - 8 Filly On Fire
Race 4 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $58,000, Allowance, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
4 Intoxicating Move - Sharp win in last, second start off the claim by Philip D’Amato; no question she likes the hillside turf course.
1 Zanbo - Has regressed in her last three starts; like the cutback in distance where she’ll sit back and make one run in the stretch.
Long Shot - 10 Al Freej
Race 5 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $19,000, Maiden claiming $20,000, 3-year-olds and up
1 Expo and Fig - Could this complete a Philip D’Amato daily double; sliding down to the bottom maiden claiming rung.
13 Golden Chalice - Races tonight as a first time gelding; his best career start came at Santa Anita in May.
Long Shot - 6 Mrs. Lewis C
Race 6 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $16,000, Claiming $12,500, Fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up
9 Betty Bing Bing - Her last, and only, win came three races ago at Santa Anita; this is the cheapest price tag she has ever run for.
8 Ava’s Ballet - Facing winners for the first time is a steep class rise; Blake Heap spots her well to have a fighting chance.
Long Shot - 10 Bird In Love
Race 7 - 1 mile (turf, rail at 15 feet), Purse $32,000, Claiming $25,000, 3-year-olds and up
6 Mambo Man - Big class drop offers this guy a huge chance; has to run back to his better speed figures.
8 Jomelo - Philip D’Amato has proven to be a more than capable replacement for Mike Mitchell; this one looks ready to wake up.
Long Shot - 7 Shun
Race 8 - 6 1/2 furlongs, Purse $60,000, Optional claiming $62,500, 3-year-olds and up
4 Indianapolis - I’ll bet some people had KY Derby Future book bets on this colt; returns from a 9-month hiatus.
9 Street Icon - Another returning off a 9-month hiatus; this one has potential too for the maestro Jerry Hollendorfer.
Long Shot - 7 My Slew
Race 9 - 6 1/2 furlongs (turf, rail at 15 feet), $100,000 Eddie D, 3-year-olds and up
6 Unbridled’s Note - Lot of layoff horses returning on today’s card; this one will stretch his legs over a course that he loves.
8 Ambitious Brew - This guy last ran in February; is 3-for-3 down the hillside turf course, plus parking lot posts are better.
Long Shot - 3 Lil Bit O’Fun
Best Bet - 1 Expo and Fig (race 5)
