The Pirates, led by high-scoring forward Maurice Kemp, are just 1-3 on the road this season, but have been battle-tested with close losses at North Carolina and Massachusetts. The rest of Conference USA sees the Tigers, who have escaped with relatively narrow wins over the likes of Lipscomb and Samford, as vulnerable in their final season in the league. East Carolina gets the first crack at testing that hypothesis.
