Bey’s drug test positive for elevated testosterone

Lightweight Mickey Bey’s drug test came back positive for elevated testosterone after his Feb. 2 fight at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, the Nevada Athletic Commission announced Tuesday.

Bey, who lives in Las Vegas and is handled by Mayweather Promotions, knocked out Robert Rodriguez in the third round.

His postfight urine sample revealed a T/E ratio of at least 30-to-1. In Nevada, anything over 6-to-1 is considered abnormal. NAC executive director Keith Kizer said the result was one of the highest ever for a boxer or mixed martial artist.

Bey (19-0-1) is likely to be temporarily suspended when the NAC meets Feb. 28. Following the action, he will have an opportunity to explain the positive test at a commission meeting in March or April.

If the commission finds Bey guilty, he faces a suspension of up to one year and 30 percent fine of his purse from the fight, as well as the win being changed to a “no contest.” Bey made $8,000 for the fight.

Kizer said all other boxers on the card tested negative.
