Las Vegan Bayless to referee Pacquiao-Mosley fight in May
April 27, 2011 - 9:34 am
Manny Pacquiao and Shane Mosley will be joined by a familiar face in their WBO welterweight title fight May 7 at the MGM Grand Garden.
The Nevada Athletic Commission on Wednesday selected Las Vegan Kenny Bayless as referee for the bout and Las Vegans Duane Ford, Dave Moretti and Glenn Trowbridge as judges.
Bayless has worked four fights apiece with Pacquiao (52-3-2, 38 knockouts) and Mosley (46-6-1, 27 KOs).
He was in the ring when Pacquiao routed Miguel Cotto in November 2009 and when he stopped Ricky Hatton in May 2009. Bayless also worked Pacquiao's rematches against Juan Manuel Marquez in 2008 and Erik Morales in 2006, both Pacquiao victories.
Bayless last worked a fight involving Mosley last May, when he lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr. at the MGM Grand. Before that, Bayless hadn't worked a Mosley fight since February 2007, when Mosley defeated Luis Collazo. He also refereed Mosley's wins over Fernando Vargas in June 2006 and Raul Marquez in February 2003.
