Fedde pitches UNLV past San Jose State, 9-1

Junior right-hander Erick Fedde was dominant over seven innings as the UNLV baseball team defeated San Jose State 9-1 on Friday in the opener of a three-game series at Wilson Stadium.

Fedde (7-1) allowed one run on three hits and struck out eight. He lowered his ERA to 1.69.

Ranked No. 20 by Baseball America, the Rebels (24-10, 12-4 Mountain West) improved to 14-1 at home. Edgar Montes drove in three runs, and Morgan Stotts had two RBIs.

The Spartans (10-24, 5-11) trailed 9-1 after four innings and finished with four hits.

The teams play at 1:05 p.m. today and Sunday.
