Adrian Peterson’s agent tells Vikings exec he’ll never play for team again

During an intense verbal altercation that required the sides to be physically separated last week, the agent for Adrian Peterson reportedly told a Minnesota Vikings executive that the running back would never play for the team again.

The incident, first reported by CBSSports.com and also verified by ESPN.com and others, took place at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Ben Dogra, Peterson’s agent, engaged in an angry discussion with Vikings vice president of football operations Rob Brzezinski, and they were separated by former Tampa Bay general manager Mark Dominik, according to the reports.

Dogra’s reported message to Brzezinski is an apparent reflection of Peterson’s desire to move on from the Vikings in the wake of their treatment of him during his child-abuse case.

After backlash from media, the Vikings placed Peterson on the Commissioner’s Exempt List for the rest of the season.

Peterson was suspended by the NFL in November after he made a plea deal in the case, and he is not eligible to return until April 15. He and the NFL Players Association are suing the league to end the suspension immediately.

Peterson is under contract with the Vikings through 2017 and scheduled to make $12.75 million in 2015. The Vikings have expressed support for Peterson over the past week, with general manager Rick Spielman saying, “We expect Adrian Peterson to be part of our football team.

“What team wouldn’t want an Adrian Peterson talent? He’s a unique player that you don’t see come around too often, and Adrian’s been a key part of our organization. He’s made a mistake. He’s doing everything, and he’s got to follow through and rectify and do the things the NFL is requiring him to do.”

On Thursday, the running back told ESPN, “I’m still uneasy about a lot of things that took place within the organization.”

He said it was not a simple case of talking with the Vikings’ leaders.

“It’s way deeper than that. It’s definitely not that easy. In any situation, people will say what they need to say to make things better. I discovered that a long time ago.

“I know there are a lot of people in the organization who want me back,” he said. “But then again, I know the ones who don’t.”

The Texas native reportedly would like to play for the Dallas Cowboys.

Dogra represents several major NFL clients, including Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt, Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman and Buffalo Bills defensive end Mario Williams. He was terminated by talent agency CAA in November.
