Eagles coach Chip Kelly says he was ’embarrassed’ after 2nd loss

Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly said he was embarrassed watching the offense sputter against the Dallas Cowboys as his team remained winless after two games.

"I was embarrassed," Kelly said Monday about the 20-10 loss. "That's not the way we're supposed to play football and that's not what we're all about. We didn't play well yesterday. It was embarrassing how we played yesterday."

Kelly said he believes the Eagles can improve without changing their personnel.

"I feel like it can be fixed," Kelly said. "The guys we have are the guys we're playing with for the remainder of the season."

Kelly earlier talked about his team's shortcomings on the "94WIP sports radio show Monday morning.

"We have to go back to work," Kelly said. "That's the one thing we all know. No one is gonna feel sorry for you, you can't feel sorry for yourself. That's not gonna change it. It's you gotta get back out on the practice field, we gotta train better, and we gotta train more deliberately and prepare for a really good Jets team."

The Eagles, who will try to get their first win this week against the New York Jets on Sunday, had three sacks and two fumble recoveries in the loss to the Cowboys.

"I think we squandered a great opportunity," Kelly said. "I thought our defense played a really, really good football game. We didn't show up offensively to support that effort in any manner and when you're playing a team like Dallas you need to play in all three phases. Offensively, we were abysmal."

The Cowboys held Eagles running back DeMarco Murray, who led the NFL in rushing last season for Dallas, to just two yards on 13 carries. Dallas won despite being flagged for a team-record 18 penalties for 142 yards.

Eagles quarterback Sam Bradford had three turnovers, including an interception in the end zone. Philadelphia had 21 total yards in the first half and finished with 226. Bradford was 23-of-37 passing for 224 yards, with one touchdown and two interceptions.
