LSU fires coach Les Miles

LSU fired embattled coach Les Miles on Sunday afternoon, The Advocate of Baton Rouge reported.

The dismissal comes after the Tigers (2-2) lost 18-13 to Auburn on Saturday night. LSU began the season ranked fifth nationally and is no longer in the Top 25.

Defensive line coach Ed Orgeron has been appointed interim coach, according to multiple reports. Orgeron was USC’s interim coach in 2013 and coached Mississippi from 2005-07.

LSU also fired offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, according to The Advocate.

Miles nearly got fired near the end of the 2015 season before school president F. King Alexander overruled the wishes of athletic department administrators and school boosters.

Miles went 114-34 in 11-plus seasons at the school. The Tigers won the 2007 national championship and lost in the 2011 title game.

LSU won 10 or more games seven times in Miles’ tenure but is just 17-10 since the start of 2014 season.

Orgeron went 10-25 at Ole Miss and 6-2 in his interim stint at USC.
