Fresno rallies past 51s on eighth-inning homer

Travis Ishikawa hit a go-ahead two-run homer off Miguel Socolovich in the eighth inning to lift the host Fresno Grizzlies to a 5-4 victory over the 51s, who lost for the third time in four games.

Adam Duvall, who led Fresno (23-24) with three hits, singled to start the eighth and Ishikawa followed with his decisive blast.

Pacific Coast League-leading Las Vegas (32-14), which had six hits, left the tying run on base in the ninth. Omar Quintanilla lined a one-out single and took second on a ground-out. Matt den Dekker then grounded out to third to end the game.

Quintanilla hit a solo homer in the third, and the 51s scored three in the fourth — on a sacrifice fly by Taylor Teagarden and a two-run shot by Kirk Nieuwenhuis — to take a 4-3 lead.

Gary Brown and Joe Panik belted back-to-back homers off Las Vegas starter Noah Syndergaard in Fresno’s three-run third.
