Focus on your finish rather than swing checklist

For many years I have wondered why golfers get focused on so many positions/body parts during golf swings that take only approximately one second to complete. Perhaps the answer may be a lesson taken or friend's never-ending "tips for a better swing mantra."

Either way, the golfer has a paralysis through analysis mindset. I even met a golfer many years ago that said he had a swing checklist of 14 swing thoughts. Please! In my opinion, you can effectively think of only one thing during your swing motion. So, my suggestion would be to focus on a complete, balanced finish on each shot you take.

In fact, why don't you hold that finish on all strokes taken during a round. That way you will be able to feel your body position on the completion of an effortless swing.

As I always tell my golf students, "If you have a balanced finish, the swing before it couldn't have been all bad." When you focus on the finish of your swing, it takes your mind away from "whacking" the ball and you will merely swing through that little round rascal.

My challenge to each of you is to try this swing and hold the finish technique the next time you are on the links. I bet you will love the results.
