AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — The Ultimate Fighting Championship’s first card featuring four former champions had one quick fight and another that went the distance.
Though all four fighters in the co-main events on tonight’s Ultimate Fighting Championship card are former champions, there is no belt on the line in either bout.
Before Urijah Faber walked into the cage to take on Takeya Mizugaki in the main event of the World Extreme Cagefighting card at the Palms on Thursday, he was having a great night.
World Extreme Cagefighting star Urijah Faber has built one of the most talented stables of lighter-weight fighters based out of his Ultimate Fitness gym in Sacramento, Calif. Faber will fight Takeya Mizugaki in the headline bout of WEC 52 at the Palms tonight, and two of his teammates also will be in action in featured bouts.
Nearly 300 aspiring fighters showed up at the Red Rock Resort on Thursday for an open casting call for Season 13 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” the mixed martial arts reality TV show. Some already had found success in the sport, but saw the open call as their best opportunity to earn the guaranteed UFC contract that comes with winning the season title.
