Saffiedine beats champion Marquardt to claim title on Strikeforce’s final card

Tarec Saffiedine won a unanimous decision over champion Nate Marquardt to take the Strikeforce welterweight title on Saturday night in Oklahoma City, in the main event of the organization's final card.

Saffiedine controlled the contest by continuously attacking Marquardt's legs with kicks. He will go down as the final welterweight champion in Strikeforce history, as the organization will now officially fold into the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Daniel Cormier dominated Dion Staring before finally stopping him with a series of punches late in the second round of a heavyweight bout. Josh Barnett, Gegard Mousasi, Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza and Las Vegan Ryan Couture also picked up wins on the card.
