Pacquiao to appear on Jimmy Kimmel tonight

Boxer Manny Pacquiao gets a rematch on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” at 11:35 p.m. tonight on ABC.

Pacquiao takes time out from preparations for his May 2 fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr.

No word on whether Pacman will sing his new song, “Lalaban Ako Para Sa Filipino” (“I Fight for the Filipino People”), which he’ll use as his entrance music for the Mayweather fight at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

Late-night TV appearances are becoming a tradition for Pacquiao, who’s appeared on Kimmel’s show nine times.

His Kimmel debut was Nov. 3, 2009 when he sang “Sometimes When We Touch” a week before beating Miguel Cotto in Las Vegas. Pacquiao has sung duets with Kimmel and Will Ferrell on the show and appeared in a skit pardoying HBO Sports’ “24/7” program. The Kimmel appearance started a string of TV appearances for the WBO welterweight champ and Philippine congressman.

Tonight’s TV appearance is about the only thing that fight fans can see for free.

Fewer than 1,000 tickets — at $1,500 to $10,000 a pop — are expected to be sold to the public for the fight. It’s even going to cost to watch the weigh-in. And pay-per-view telecast starts at $89.95 and $10 more for high-definition.

No wonder the fight is expected to be boxing’s biggest earner of all time.
