CONTINUING WEEKDAY PICKS

You won’t get any brainless Donovan McNabb quotes here.

We definitely understand the benefits of a tie.

And, considering my overall record when picking Mountain West Conference basketball games this season, welcome one.

New Mexico beat Texas Christian by 14 on Tuesday night, a push with the spread. When you factor in the colossal meltdown San Diego State against Brigham Young, my 1-0-1 evening nearly makes me want to implore you to actually take these picks seriously.

Almost.

Tonight’s game:

WYOMING (plus-1) at COLORADO STATE: It’s all about conference tournament seeding now, and both the Cowboys and Rams can still finish anywhere from sixth to ninth. That doesn’t mean much, but we have to write something about each game. My pick: Wyoming.

UNLV (plus-5) at UTAH: The Utes are this close from turning a three-length lead for the regular-season title into leaving the field in its dust. I would like to tell which Rebels team will show up in Salt Lake City, but it would be easier to tell you the name of the next Lotto winner. My pick: Utah.
