FINISHING OFF THE UFC THEME
Well, that didn’t take long.
Guest celebrity Adam Hill and myself began our weekday Mountain West Conference basketball picks with a loss Tuesday, each siding with Texas Christian and plus-13 against UNLV.
The blame goes entirely to TCU coach Jim Christian, whose technical foul with under five minutes remaining led to two UNLV points.
The Rebels won by 14.
Christian should have kept his temper in check and realized he has bigger problems than officials right now. Simply, his team stinks.
The remaining three games are tonight, and Adam is again ready and excited to lend his mixed martial arts expertise to scouting each game:

Adam’s take – Randy Couture doesn’t have much to do with BYU, but like Lee Cummard, his wife is known to enjoy a good brawl.

NEW MEXICO (minus-12.5) at AIR FORCE
Adam’s take — One of the better MMA camps resides in Albuquerque, where Greg Jackson trains some of the sport’s top names. Air Force, on the other hand, wouldn’t last long in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, whose president (Dana White) would cut the Falcons quickly for lack of talent.
My pick: New Mexico

SAN DIEGO STATE (plus 4.5) at UTAH
Adam’s take — In a battle for first place, think of the Aztecs as Georges St. Pierre and the Utes as Brock Lesnar. The agile athlete against a mountain.
My pick: SDSU
