GREETINGS FROM GLENDALE
February 4, 2008 - 10:00 pm
A few observations from Super Bowl Sunday:
• Think of being inside an airplane hangar and having The Who blasting in your ears for four hours. Now you know what it felt like inside University of Phoenix Stadium.
Just another reminder that Whitney Houston's rendition of "Star Spangled Banner" at Super Bowl XXV might never be touched: When someone like "American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks does such a terrific job Sunday and isn't on the same planet as Houston's version.
• Text message received from a friend in Las Vegas at 4:26 p.m.: Can't we just have a coin toss? Sadly, no. If it's not a spectacle, it's not the Super Bowl.
• Love Tom Petty. Great choice of songs. But if half the people near that stage at halftime knew the words to any of them, I'm 6 feet 6 inches and run the 40-yard dash in 4.2 seconds.
