IMPRESSIVE FACT
This might surprise you: Some of the more cordial, accommodating, friendly U.S. athletes at these Games have been the members of Team USA. While others from volleyball and men’s swimming (see Phelps, Michael) can’t get through the mixed-zone media availability fast enough without saying anything of substance (and sometimes nothing at all), the NBA players have gone out of their way to covet the experience and befriend other athletes.
Not a day goes by when someone from another U.S. team doesn’t have a story about meeting Kobe Bryant or LeBron James or others, and how supportive the pros have been in taking pictures and swapping stories and signing autographs and wishing them luck.
I have no idea who gave Team USA its pre-Games public relations speech, but the person deserves a gold medal.
