Last month when I wrote about the possibility of the Pacific-10 Conference expanding and how that might impact the Mountain West, UNLV wasn’t mentioned by name.
When it was announced last year the Mountain West and Missouri Valley conferences would play a four-year challenge series in basketball, there were mostly yawns around here. When UNLV drew Southern Illinois, there were more yawns.
I’m not saying that Friday’s New Mexico vs. San Diego State semifinal at the Thomas & Mack Center was as good as it gets in the Mountain West Conference Tournament.
