Tiger Woods drops to lowest ranking since 1996

Tiger Woods on Monday dropped to No. 62 in the world golf rankings — the lowest spot he has held since his debut on the PGA Tour in 1996.

Woods had spent a record 683 weeks as the top-ranked golfer throughout his career, including a 60-week run that ended last year as he missed three and a half months due to back surgery.

Since then, he has plummeted in the rankings, going from 32 at the end of last year to 56 last week to his current low.

Woods missed the cut at the Waste Management Phoenix Open after a career-worst 82 in the second round. He then withdrew from the Farmers Insurance Open last week after just 11 holes, saying his back stiffened up during a fog delay.
