Harrison Missouri-bound

Former Palo Verde High School standout Jarrell Harrison surprisingly this afternoon committed to play football at Missouri. This came a day after the safety prospect at City College of San Francisco said he was leaning toward picking UNLV, the school he signed with in 2005.

Harrison, a Rivals.com three-star prospect, made the announcement on the radio show "Talkin Sports with RT."

"Ultimately, I wanted to play on the big stage," Harrison said. "Missouri is always on TV. it's a big-time conference (Big 12). UNLV would've definitely been a good fit for me, but I felt for me at this point in my career Missouri was the best fit for me right now."

Harrison (6 feet 2 inches, 210 pounds) won't go alone. CCSF teammate Joshua Tatum, a Rivals.com four-star linebacker, committed to the Tigers about a week ago. Harrison said that while Tatum's decision was influential, it didn't immediately seal the deal.

"The best fit for him wasn't necessarily the best for me," Harrison said. "That's why it took me a little longer than him.

"I know we're going to make a lot of plays over there, and we're a good tandem. It really came down to the chemistry that we have, and I know we can take it to the Big 12."
