Fresno State strung together three straight two-out run-scoring hits in the first inning en route to a 6-1 win over UNLV in a Mountain West baseball game Friday at Wilson Stadium. Edgar Montes went 3-for-4 with two doubles for UNLV.
Fresno State strung together three straight two-out run-scoring hits in the first inning en route to a 6-1 win over UNLV in a Mountain West baseball game Friday at Wilson Stadium.
Kevin Viers and Taylor Tempel each went 3-for-5 with an RBI for the Bulldogs (25-25, 14-11), who had a 14-9 edge in hits. Manny Argomaniz had a double, a single and two RBIs.
Jake Shull (4-5), the reigning MW pitcher of the week, held the Rebels (22-26, 8-17) to one run on eight hits and no walks and struck out three in 6 1/3 innings.
Edgar Montes went 3-for-4 with two doubles for UNLV, and Morgan Stotts’ 2-for-4 effort included an RBI single in the sixth.
Rebels starter Kenny Oakley (3-5) gave up four runs on eight hits and no walks and struck out four in six innings.
