Andrew Yazdanbakhsh and Nick Rodriguez each went 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead UNLV to a 9-3 win at San Jose State, helping the Rebels claim a split of their Mountain West doubleheader. UNLV was limited to four hits in losing the first game 3-0.
It took UNLV the better part of its first round to get untracked at the Sagamore Golf Club. But once the Rebels found their groove, they played their way into contention at the NCAA men’s golf regional in Noblesville, Ind. Led by Kurt Kitayama’s 1-under 71, UNLV is fifth after posting a 7-over score of 295.
UNLV’s baseball game Thursday night at San Jose State was postponed because of inclement weather. It is scheduled to be made up as part of a doubleheader today starting at 3 p.m. in San Jose, Calif.
UNLV shortstop Garie Blando was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches All-West Region third team. She led the Rebels in most offensive categories, including games played (55), batting average (.389), runs (55), hits (70), doubles (16), home runs (15) and RBIs (46).

UNLV announced it would begin construction on a two-story baseball clubhouse that is expected to be ready before next season. The $2.75 million project was made possible by a donation from M Resort president Anthony Marnell III.

Senior Dana Finkelstein won medalist honors Saturday at the NCAA St. George Regional in St. George, Utah, leading the UNLV women’s golf team to a fourth-place finish and a berth in the NCAA Championship. The Rebels advanced to the NCAAs for the fourth time.
Taylor Tempel went 4-for-5 with two doubles and scored three runs Saturday to lead Fresno State to an 8-3 win over UNLV in a Mountain West baseball game at Wilson Stadium.
Dana Finkelstein shot a second straight round of 1-over-par 72 and is tied for second place in the women’s NCAA St. George Regional, helping UNLV to sixth place after two rounds of the 18-team, three-round event in Utah.
