Six-run third inning lifts Fresno State past UNLV baseball team

Taylor Tempel went 4-for-5 with two doubles and scored three runs Saturday to lead Fresno State to an 8-3 win over UNLV in a Mountain West baseball game at Wilson Stadium.
The Bulldogs (26-25, 15-11) opened the scoring with a six-run third inning in which they had seven hits and cashed in on two errors.
Fresno State starter Ricky Thomas (4-2) held the Rebels (22-27, 8-18) to two runs on six hits and three walks and struck out five in 6 2/3 innings.
Austin Guibor went 3-for-4 for Fresno State, which had a 16-9 edge in hits.
Edgar Montes had two doubles, and Joey Armstrong, Andrew Yazdanbakhsh and Morgan Stotts had two singles apiece for UNLV, which trailed 7-0 after seven innings.
The Bulldogs got to Rebels starter D.J. Myers (2-3) for six runs, five earned, on seven hits and one walk in 2 2/3 innings.
