UNLV golfer John Oda was named the Mountain West’s freshman of the year, and Oda joined senior teammates Kurt Kitayama and Carl Jonson on the 10-member all-conference team announced Thursday.

UNLV golfer John Oda was named the Mountain West’s freshman of the year, and Oda joined senior teammates Kurt Kitayama and Carl Jonson on the 10-member all-conference team, the league announced Thursday.

Oda, from Honolulu, leads the Rebels in scoring average at 70.48 strokes per round, which ranks fourth in the Mountain West. In 11 events this season, he posted nine top-20 finishes, including seven top 10s.
